uPVC Conservatory Painting and Spraying
A frame-colour refresh for the conservatory you already have, not conservatory supply or a roof upgrade.
uPVC conservatory painting by spraying changes the finish of suitable existing frames while retaining the structure. It is different from replacing the conservatory, changing its roof or improving its glazing. Start by deciding whether the issue is appearance or function, because a coating will not resolve leaks, failed sealed units or doors that do not close.
Dual Finish’s existing surface-spraying service includes conservatories as well as windows and doors. We work from Cranbrook near Exeter across Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset. The survey should establish the material and condition of each part, the intended colour and the practical access around the glass-heavy structure.
Which parts are included?
A conservatory contains more than one type of surface: window frames, opening sashes, door frames and other structural details may meet glazing, seals and roof components. A quote needs to identify the parts proposed for spraying rather than describe the entire conservatory as one paintable object.
Tell the surveyor which faces you want to change and which should remain untouched. Exterior-only work and a change to both inside and outside are different scopes. The roof covering and glazing are not included simply because the frames are being refinished, so agree the boundaries of the work in writing.
Check opening windows and doors first
Open and close the windows and doors normally before the survey, without forcing any mechanism. Note handles that resist, loose seals, leaks or glass misted between panes. Those are functional observations that need a repair assessment rather than being concealed by a new colour.
Where frames are sound and the problem is a faded or dated finish, spraying may be appropriate. If a door catches or a sealed unit has failed, discuss that separately. Deciding which components stay is the first step towards a useful finish specification and avoids paying for an appearance change on a part that needs replacement.
Why conservatory masking matters
The existing on-site spraying process uses cleaning and preparation followed by masking of glass, seals and adjacent surfaces. A conservatory has many glass edges and opening details, so the quote reflects preparation and protection as well as the area being coated.
Furniture, floor finishes and the access route inside the conservatory also need to be discussed if internal faces are included. Identify delicate adjoining surfaces and anything that cannot be moved. A clear scope helps establish what must be protected and how the room is used while the work is undertaken.
Match the house or keep a lighter interior
A conservatory can be finished to relate to the house windows and doors using the spraying service’s RAL colour options. Compare a sample with the existing walls and the other frames, especially if some of them will remain white. A dark exterior and a pale interior produce a different effect from changing both faces.
Confirm the actual colour reference, not just a descriptive name. If the project combines new windows with retained conservatory frames, view the new factory finish and proposed spray sample together. The survey and written quote are where the included surfaces and chosen finish should be recorded.
Access around glass and adjoining roofs
Explain the available space around the conservatory, including boundaries, planting and any shared paths. A narrow side or an adjoining extension can affect how the relevant frames are reached. Do not assume that access to the door gives safe access to every external surface.
Never climb onto glazing or a conservatory roof to inspect or prepare it. Ask what access arrangements the proposed work requires and what clear space is needed. Weather and the existing surface also affect the practical spraying plan, so avoid treating a colour choice as the only decision that remains.
Spraying is not a thermal conversion
A different frame colour does not turn the conservatory into a different glazing or roof system. If the room’s main problem is temperature, condensation or a leak, describe that problem accurately and seek advice on the relevant components. A surface coating addresses the finish.
For sound frames, a coordinated colour refresh can include adjoining house windows or doors where suitable. Keep those items listed separately in the quote so you know what is being assessed and finished. The service discussed here is spraying existing conservatory frames, not supplying a new conservatory or promising a performance upgrade.
Questions people ask
Do you spray existing conservatory frames?
Conservatories are included in the existing surface-spraying service. The material, condition, included faces and access are assessed before the scope is agreed.
Does conservatory spraying replace the roof?
No. Frame spraying changes the finish; roof, glazing and leak problems require separate advice.
Can I keep the inside white?
Discuss exterior-only or both-face work at survey and record the agreed surfaces in the written quote.
